As President and Chief Operating Officer of The Millennia Companies®, Michael Pico plays a central role in advancing the organization’s mission to preserve and enhance affordable housing across the country. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property operations and corporate infrastructure, driving performance, compliance, and cultural alignment across Millennia’s expansive national portfolio of affordable and market-rate residential communities.
Michael joined Millennia in 2021 as Chief Human Resources Officer and was later appointed to serve as the senior operational leader of the organization. He provides strategic oversight and direction across multiple departments, including Property Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Accounting, ensuring that people, processes, and performance are aligned to support the company’s mission.
Michael brings more than 30 years of multifaceted leadership experience across affordable housing, multifamily real estate, hospitality, retail, and insurance. Before joining Millennia, he held senior executive roles with some of the country’s leading organizations, including Pennrose, Caesars Entertainment, AIG, and Spencer’s. He has consistently led high-growth, mission-focused companies through periods of organizational transformation, building strong operational systems, talent strategies, and service cultures that improve outcomes for residents and employees alike.
Before Millennia, Michael served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Pennrose, where he drove the transformation of the organization’s talent, culture, and shared services capabilities, earning multiple recognitions, including three consecutive “Best Places to Work” awards. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Enterprise Learning at Caesars Entertainment, where he led global learning and development for over 65,000 employees and was recognized with multiple Training Top 125 awards for best practices in organizational development.
Michael is a frequent speaker at affordable housing industry conferences and has authored numerous articles on leadership, service excellence, and employee engagement in top publications.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Scranton. He is certified in DISC and Emotional Intelligence diagnostics, as well as in customer service and leadership programs through Development Dimensions International (DDI).
