KANSAS CITY, MO – The Millennia Companies® (Millennia) began construction on Monday, June 17, 2019 to rehabilitate 152 units of affordable housing at Englewood Apartments in Kansas City, Missouri.

The $10,485,374 construction project addresses structural, systemic and functional deficiencies that have developed over time at the nearly 50-year-old property; it includes a significant investment in each apartment home (new kitchens, bathrooms and finishings), the interiors and exteriors of the buildings, a new community building with a technology center and a new playground, among other improvements.

“The scope of work of over $77,000 per apartment incorporates high-quality materials and energy-efficient products that will result in durable, sustainable and attractive housing that we hope the residents and community will embrace and find uplifting,” says Lee Felgar, President, Millennia Housing Management, Ltd.

Millennia’s mission is to not only develop and manage housing, but also to enrich the quality of life for residents. As part of the rehabilitation plan, a service coordinator will be on-site to provide programs and activities for the community.

“Millennia preserves and transforms affordable housing for those families who need it most, and we thank our partners who have helped us to reach this important milestone,” says Frank T. Sinito, Chief Executive Officer, Millennia. “Above all, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide residents with safe, quality and affordable housing.”

Last week, Millennia finalized the federal low-income housing tax credit financing needed to commence construction with the support of the City of Kansas City, United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Missouri Housing Development Commission, Industrial Development Authority of the City of Kansas City, WNC, Inc., Red Stone and Sterling Bank.
